NT Disability Services Award

Recognising exceptional individuals working in the disability sector.

Somerville celebrated the NT Disability Services Awards on Friday evening. The Awards in their fourth year, recognise exceptional individuals working in the disability sector as well as government and non-government services, organisations, businesses and programs that demonstrate outstanding commitment to improving the lives of people with a disability.

There are six categories:
• Emerging Leader
• Excellence in Improving Learning and Development
• Excellence in Improving Participation
• Excellence in Promoting Community Awareness
• Excellence in Innovation
• Outstanding Disability Service Employee

The overall Award for Excellence is chosen from among the winners of each of the Award categories.

People from all over the Northern Territory are nominated by colleagues, families, service users, other agencies and the like. The number of nominations continues to grow each year. With 2014 receiving a record number of what the judges described as high calibre nominations.

In 2014 three of Somerville’s disability services team members were nominated:
• Patrick Rolletschke in the category of Emerging Leader
• Sumedha Rankot in the category of Outstanding Disability Service Employee
• Emily Farey in the category of Outstanding Disability Service Employee

The Somerville Disability Services Team (as a whole) was also nominated in the category of Excellence in Promoting Community Awareness.

We are delighted that Sumedha Rankot was the winner of his category.

Somerville’s Disability Services Team was awarded a highly commended mention for the work that all those who work in the DS program do on a daily basis. This commendation is for each and every one of you. The Board and Management of Somerville thank you for your continued efforts, dedication, passion and commitment.
