Celebrating our staff: 2024 Margaret Somerville Awards
The annual Margaret Somerville Awards were celebrated on November 8, as a chance to reflect on the great work done by the staff. These awards honour individuals whose dedication and leadership embody the values of care, service, and community.
This year’s winners and runners-up from across the regions highlight what it means to lead with purpose and honour our namesake, Margaret Somerville.
In a Somerville first, this year we had a runner up in each region as well as the main Margaret Somerville Award.
Darwin Region Runner-Up: Sharnie Bruton
Sharnie, Manager of Support Coordination Services, is celebrated for her professionalism and positive attitude. Known for going above and beyond, she shares her expertise generously, empowering her team to succeed.
Palmerston Region Runner-Up: Rosary Muller
Rosary leads with compassion and an unwavering commitment to her team and participants. Her “can-do” attitude and grace under pressure inspire those around her, fostering a positive and nurturing environment.
Katherine Region Runner-Up: Marifel Jermacans
Marifel’s resilience and dedication as a team leader shine through in her proactive problem-solving and support for her participants and team. Her passion and ability to turn challenges into growth opportunities are truly inspiring.
Margaret Somerville Award Winner: Nyibol Makauch from Alice Springs
Nyibol’s compassionate leadership and unwavering dedication as a Team Leader have transformed participant care. In just six months, she has played a pivotal role in helping participant Sharna Lee achieve significant goals, including attending regular hydrotherapy sessions. Nyibol’s resilience, mentorship, and tireless commitment to fostering a supportive environment make her a deserving winner of this prestigious award. Congratulations, Nyibol!
