Somerville Celebrates 60 Years at Government House

Somerville Community Services was welcomed to Government House by His Honour the Administrator and Ms Jones for a special reception marking our 60th anniversary.

The evening was an opportunity to both reflect and celebrate. Guests honoured Margaret Somerville’s courageous vision, recognised the dedication of staff who continue her legacy, and acknowledged the many people and partners who have shaped our journey across the Northern Territory.

A highlight of the reception was a special display of photographs and stories that traced our growth from humble beginnings to the wide-reaching services we now provide in Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine and Alice Springs. Guests were also able to receive our anniversary publication, Somerville: The Courage To Be, written by historians Peter and Sheila Forrest.

We are deeply grateful to His Honour and Ms Jones for their warm hospitality. Our thanks also go to our staff, participants, families, and supporters who continue to be part of this ongoing story of compassion, courage and community.
