Supported Independent Living
Somerville provides a range of Supported Independent Living services so that people with disability have choice and control of their lives and can participate in their community.
What is Supported Independent Living?
Supported Independent Living is one type of support to help you live in your home.
It includes help or supervision with daily tasks, like personal care or cooking meals. It helps you live as independently as possible, while building your skills.
Who is it for?
Supported Independent Living is for people with higher support needs, who need some level of help at home all the time.
This means you need a significant amount of help throughout the day, 7 days a week. This includes overnight support.
We work with people to understand their housing needs and any support or specialist requirements to help people live the life they want to live.
Where are these services?
Somerville operates Supported Independent Living services in Darwin, Greater Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs.
The Supported Independent Living services are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by highly skilled staff to provide quality care and support.
The focus of our Supported Independent Living services is to meet the goals and aspirations of each person, with an emphasis on giving people greater choice, control and independence.
We can provide different levels of support to meet the needs of each person, including semi-independent living where support might include personal care, preparing meals, skills training, garden maintenance or helping to access the local community.
